Dr. Vijay Kumar – The Mission of the Michigan Physical Therapy Association in West Branch

Dr. Vijay Kumar has been a member of the Michigan Physical Therapy Association (MPTA) from his office in West Branch, Michigan since he founded his first practice in the area decades ago. Dr. Kumar and the MPTA have long had some of the same goals: to ensure that high professional and ethical standards are upheld throughout the state. Dr. Kumar has been known within the professional organization as a standard-setter himself, pushing for more aquatic physical therapy facilities in the community to help more people who would benefit and worked to allow patients to get physical therapy treatment without a referral from another doctor in Michigan.

The MPTA is an organization of physical therapists, students, and assistants dedicated to providing quality health care options for rehabilitation and the prevention of injury and mobility-reducing conditions are available for the people who need them throughout the state of Michigan. Dr. Vijay Kumar joined his facility in West Branch with the MPTA because of its emphasis on education and awareness in the community. For Dr. Vijay Kumar, a key impediment for people finding and using his facility in West Branch for their physical therapy needs is a lack of education on how physical therapy helps people recover range of motion and recover from injuries.

Dr. Vijay Kumar West Branch has used his association with the MPTA to draw patients and professional attention to his facility in West Branch. He is heavily involved in developing the MPTA’s message and hopes to count on its support during next year’s state representative elections, where he hopes to win representation of Michigan’s 103rd district.

Dr. Vijay Kumar – West Branch Physical Therapist’s Three Benefits of Aquatic Physical Therapy

Dr. Vijay Kumar is a West Branch physical therapist with many years of experience helping patients dealing with all kinds of injuries and conditions regain their full range of motion and strength. Sometime after he first started his first clinic in West Branch, he started using aquatic physical therapy treatments to help patients instead of relying on traditional treatments. Here are three reasons Dr. Kumar has taken to aquatic physical therapy over traditional treatments in many cases:

  • Even, firm resistance. To move in the water, you have to exert more energy and use more muscles. For some physical therapy patients, developing even, lean muscles while in rehabilitation is critical. Dr. Vijay Kumar uses the treatment pools at his facility in West Branch to help people develop this musculature that leads to faster and more complete recovery.
  • Improved circulation. The warm temperature of the water facilitates better circulation to all extremities. The water itself exerts hydrostatic pressure on the body, which also helps with circulation. Better circulation is critical for some patients, according to Dr. Vijay Kumar or West Branch because it reduces swelling and improves the efficiency of the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the injury site.
  • Soothing effect on muscles. Aquatic physical therapists use warm water for their treatments, between 92 and 96 degrees Fahrenheit usually. This has a soothing effect on muscles, especially for those suffering from muscle spasms and back pain, making it easier to move and complete the physical therapy exercises.

Dr. Vijay Kumar has worked with patients in West Branch for many years and swears by the effectiveness of aquatic therapy.
